One-Day Pastors’ Sabbath
Jesus Prays for You
“I pray for them…for those you have given me, for they are yours.” John 17:9
In John 17:11-19, John gives us a window into the inner life of our Lord, just hours before his arrest. Jesus is at prayer. The time had come for him to leave his companions who—present and future—would “remain in the world.” In earnest he asks the Father to give them three gifts: gifts that he knew they would need to keep them empowered and thriving in Christ’s mission after his ascension.
Today, as the Shepherd of God’s people, Jesus is praying in earnest for you to his Father. The sole purpose of this prayer retreat is for you to have uninterrupted and spiritually renewing time with Jesus. Time to experience Jesus bending his ear toward you to listen. Time to imagine him praying this prayer for you. Time to listen to him as he prays this prayer, and in so doing, you will discover the three gifts he wants God the Father to give to you and why these gifts are given right now.
We hope you will join us as we seek God together for refreshment and renewal in the Holy Spirit.
